The upper most section of our backyard waterfall that leads down to our small pond.  I decided to haul out the somewhat neglected Calumet 45NX monorail for this shot.  Now that things are getting much colder around here and I'll be driven back inside the home studio I'll be using that camera a lot more for portraits and still-life work.

It was restored in 1980-81 by the Division of Public Works and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  The bridge spans the east branch of the Callicoon Creek and is situated in a 20 acre park with a playground for children, picnic tables and a hilltop parking area. It's an area favorite for wedding and family photos.

Glencairn, built between 1928 and 1939, was the home of the Raymond and Mildred Pitcairn family for forty years. Pitcairn designed Glencairn as a Romanesque-style “castle” for his outstanding collection of medieval objects, purchased as inspirational models for the artists working on Bryn Athyn Cathedral located across the street. Influenced by the American Arts and Crafts Movement, Pitcairn established on-site workshops to produce handcrafted works of art for both the Cathedral and Glencairn. Visitors experience a wealth of handcrafted creations in stone, wood, stained glass, and mosaic.

Today Glencairn serves as a museum of religious art and history. Pitcairn’s collection of medieval stained glass and sculpture is considered to be one of the country's finest.  Glencairn Museum is a member of the Bryn Athyn Historic District, a National Historic Landmark.

317 days into a 365 project I suppose I should include some color work too so here is the first color introduced into the project.  Located in Montgomery County Pennsylvania and not far from Philadelphia, Bryn Athyn Cathedral is home to the General Church of New Jerusalem (New Church).  It was constructed between the years 1913 and 1928 with work on the stained glass windows and interior decoration continuing into the early 1940s and beyond.  The building was dedicated in 1919.

Corn bales dot the landscape of this farm in Berks County, Pennsylvania.  In my never ending quest to fine tune my film development workflow I switched to a Beseler 8x10 color print developing drum on a Uniroller 352 auto-reversing rotary base for my 4x5 film development.  I was getting uneven development always on a single sheet when I was trying the Mod54 insert in the older screw-top Paterson tank on the rotary base.  Although the Beseler drum only handles four sheets at a time instead of the Mod54 six sheets, it is nearly foolproof and I've been able to use 80% less developer, stop bath, fixer and distilled water with each batch which is a huge advantage.  I also have a Beseler 11X14 drum that takes eight sheets of 4x5 but I think I need to locate or fabricate a missing sheet spacer insert for that drum before I use it for developing. Going forward, the Mod54 insert will be used mostly for processing the double sided Fuji HRT-30 X-Ray film I still have left.

4x5 for 365 project (308/365)

A store front from the faux railroad station setup inside the Railroad Museum Of Pennsylvania in Strasburg, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

This was my first experiment with using rotary processing for film development.  I bought a cheap used Unicolor Uniroller 352 auto-reversing roller base off of eBay and an older model Paterson Tank System 4 which features a screw on lid instead of the modern ones that have the press on lid.  I inserted the loaded MOD 54 six sheet 4x5 film insert that I already had into the Paterson tank with 1000ml of diluted Rodinal developer and placed a one gallon jug of water to the left of the roller base to block the Paterson tank from creeping off the roller base as it rotates.  The MOD 54 site states that the MOD 54 wasn't designed for rotary processing but it worked out perfectly in this test.  The key is to use that older tank with the screw on lid.  I used the processing times suggested by the Massive Dev Chart for HP5+ in Rodinal 1:50 dilution for a JOBO rotary processor, 7 minutes 25 seconds, and I got proper negative density with even development.  I'm a very happy camper.  I'll have to experiment a little more to see what the actual minimum amount of chemical is that will fully cover all three sheets of film on each side of the MOD 54 since one of the goals of this exercise is to cut down on the amount of developer, stop bath and fixer that is used per developing batch.
