Day 6 of 365 - "Toys. When you're not looking" project

The bears are ready for their bedtime story...

A little light painting technique on this one today.  Shot with the Nikon D90 with the standard Nikon 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S kit lens @ 18 mm.  Shot as a series of five exposures while I used an old flashlight to paint light onto each separate region of the scene during the exposure.  One exposure for the horse's head and upper torso.  One for the books and the bottom of the horse.  One for the Winnie The Pooh and chair and finally one for the bear on the horse and the rear of the horse. Each exposure done in manual exposure mode, F14, 30 second shutter speed, ISO 200, spot metering.  I composited each of the five exposures onto separate layers in Photoshop CS5 and blended their respective parts of the shot into one cohesively lit image using layer masks.  Camera was tripod mounted.  Thanks to my Wife, Denise for her help in manning the shutter remote and to my Stepson Michael for handling the turning on and off of the room lights in between shots while I did the light painting.

In 2013, I'm doing a 365 shot a day project with the theme "Toys. When you're not looking". The idea is to capture familiar toys dealing with the situations and challenges that life throws at them in the real world, just like a human would.  You can follow the progress of the project on
