Day 33 of 365 - "Toys. When you're not looking" project

On this Groundhog Day, despite what Punxsutawney Phil says, Berksutawney Butch says we still have six more weeks of Winter !

Shot with the Nikon D7000 and Nikon 28-70mm F2.8 AFS lens @ 65mm.  Manual exposure mode, F8, 1/125th second shutter speed, ISO 100, spot metering.  Camera on tripod and shutter triggered with Nikon infrared release.

Main Light:

Nikon SB900 speedlight in manual mode @ 1/4 power with the flash head zoomed to 200mm and flash beam narrowed and directed with a 8" HONL Speed Snoot.  Flash sitting on plastic Nikon flash foot positioned on bay window 10 feet behind the subject and aimed at his back.

Fill Light:

Nikon SB900 speedlight in manual mode @ 1/32nd power with the flash head zoomed to 180mm and flash beam flagged on the bottom so it doesn't illuminate the floor by using a Rogue bounce card with the black light blocking material attached.  Flash sitting on plastic Nikon flash foot positioned four feet to the right of the subject on the floor.

Both flashes triggered with PocketWizard Plus II radio transceiver on flash and camera.

In 2013, I'm doing a 365 shot a day project with the theme "Toys. When you're not looking". The idea is to capture familiar toys dealing with the situations and challenges that life throws at them in the real world, just like a human would.  You can follow the progress of the project on http://GreggObst.com
