After taking a long, hard evaluative look at the recent progress made in my "Toys: When you're not looking" project, I've decided to end it as a daily 365 type project. I felt that I wasn't able to make each shot special and the shots that I was producing lately lacked the ability to stand on their own without a witty caption to prop them up. So I will continue to still shoot toys from time to time when I can produce the kind of work with them that I know I am capable of. The project will just no longer be done on a daily basis. I think getting cooped up in the studio all Winter has really made me stale and led me to produce a level of work that I am not personally happy with. I think in the future I may take on projects once or twice a year with a one month duration each. It would seem to be easier that way to maintain creative momentum and freshness. That approach seems to work well for one of my favorite photographers, Bill Wadman.
So on to Spring and back to more variety and yes, still more toys from time to time. I still have close to 110 interesting toy shot ideas recorded in Evernote so there are plenty of shots to come.
