Tending to the smokehouse

A historic re-enactor stands next to the smokehouse next to the Boone House at the Daniel Boone Homestead. Smokehouses were used to smoke and cure meat back during Boone's time and were a necessity since there was no refrigeration to preserve the meat otherwise.  Shot on 8-10-2013 during the "Battle at Boone Homestead" weekend.
