After purchasing what later came to be known as the Gomez Mill House in 1909, Dard Hunter, a well known artisan and craftsman designed and built the Gomez Mill in 1910 in the style of a Devonshire cottage. Hunter used the mill to hand-mill paper for use in printing. The mill, sometimes known as "Hunter's Cottage Mill" has a 16 x 14 foot base structure and utilizes an overshot water wheel that drives the milling equipment inside.
