Denise and I went down to Maryland back on 7-20-2013 to visit with some of her family members and while down there we decided to make a side trip into the historic little town of Shepherdstown, West Virginia. It's a quaint, friendly town full of buildings dating to the 1700s and 1800s and little shops that offer unique items for sale, antiques, a public library and great hometown cooking with some of the best homemade pies we have ever had. The town played host to Civil War battles and was a place where the injured and dying were taken after the nearby battle of Antietam.
