317 days into a 365 project I suppose I should include some color work too so here is the first color introduced into the project.  Located in Montgomery County Pennsylvania and not far from Philadelphia, Bryn Athyn Cathedral is home to the General Church of New Jerusalem (New Church).  It was constructed between the years 1913 and 1928 with work on the stained glass windows and interior decoration continuing into the early 1940s and beyond.  The building was dedicated in 1919.

My Wife and I happened upon this beautiful, white hilltop church while driving to New York in search of Autumn color spots.  It is Calkins Baptist Church located in Milanville, Wayne County, Pennsylvania not far from the Pennsylvania/New York state border.  I couldn't find any information on the history of the church unfortunately.  The steeple topping arrow hanging precariously from the top makes me wonder if it was hit by lightning at some point.

In 1972, Volunteers at Millbrook Village built this reproduction of a 1860s era Methodist Episcopal Church. During the 1800s, religion played an important role in the villagers spiritual and social life. In the early 1800's, before the village existed, Methodist circuit ministers visited this area. As the community began growing, regular Sunday services were held in a private home. In 1840, the villagers built a small church which was later used as a one-room schoolhouse which can also be seen at Millbrook Village.

Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stouchsburg near Womelsdorf, Pennsylvania.  This church always catches my eye when I drive by because of the unusual shade of stonework which sets it apart from the normal red brick that most of the other area churches have.  The congregation was founded in 1743.

4x5 for 365 project (59/365)

This is the St. Paul's UCC Chapel in Amity, Pennsylvania.  It stands next to the much larger yellow brick church that serves the present congregation.  The chapel was built sometime after 1917 when a fire ravaged an earlier Sunday school chapel building on the same spot.  Many of the same bricks used in hte earlier school's construction were used to build the present chapel building.

I tried a little something different with the pinhole for this shot and took a sheet of Saran Wrap (clear, very thin plastic) and wiped it on some of the snow and ice piles that are covered with road salt in order to give it some dirty texture and grit then I draped that sheet over the front of the 4x5 wooden pinhole camera.  I think I still need to play with the distance between the pinhole and the Saran Wrap to get the exact feel I was going for but it's a start.  I burned the edges a bit in Lightroom to add some drama.

Camera: Home made 4x5 wooden and brass pinhole camera. 0.4mm diameter laser cut pinhole, 90mm focal length giving F225 aperture.
